The Putney School Summer Arts Program is offered to a small number of Shinnyo-en youth to attend to explore various art forms and apply their creative passion to cultivate a more harmonious and peaceful world.
Since 1988, the Putney School Summer Arts has supported and inspired students who are passionate about the arts through intensive workshops in visual, performing, interdisciplinary, and literary art forms. Students select two disciplines to focus on, which they study through morning and afternoon workshops. These workshops are designed for all levels of experience, and focus on each student’s individual interests and trajectory. All students benefit from professional instruction and create rich work for their creative portfolios (The Putney School Summer Arts 2019 brochure).
In partnership with the Putney School, we offer Shinnyo-en youth an opportunity to deepen their paths to peace and their study of arts through an intensive residential program in Vermont. Each year the Foundation sponsors a small number of talented Shinnyo-en youth, between the ages of 14 and 17, or currently in 8th-11th grade, to attend the Putney School Summer Arts. If you are a Shinnyo-en youth interested in this opportunity, please contact your Temple Manager, a local YA chief, or sub-chiefs for more information and the application process.
